GERIK, Aug 10 — Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) has been given the green light to hold discussions with any political coalition ahead of the upcoming Melaka state election.

As reported by Harian Metro (HM), BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he had empowered Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh to lead the talks in search of common ground to ensure stable governance in the state.

“I hope the talks, which are usually complicated when it comes to seat allocations, can be handled amicably. There is no issue that cannot be resolved,” Zahid was quoted as saying.

He added that Ab Rauf, who also chairs Melaka BN and Umno state liaison body, would later present the outcome of the discussions to the coalition’s top leadership before any decision is finalised.

Meanwhile, Zahid, who is also Umno president, said he did not rule out attending PAS’s annual congress if he receives an official invitation, HM reported.

He added that if he is unable to attend personally, Umno would be represented by its leadership team.
