GEORGE TOWN, Aug 9 — Three people were rescued after a tree fell on the Perodua Ativa they were travelling in along Jalan Macalister this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 9.12am and dispatched eight firefighters from the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.

“All three victims who were trapped inside the vehicle were successfully freed by members of the public before the rescue team arrived,” the department said.

Firefighters later carried out work to cut up and remove the fallen tree and debris to ensure public safety and ease traffic flow.

The department said further information on the victims’ condition would be provided when available.
