KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — The Immigration Department is investigating the use of its logo on a vehicle seen in a viral social media post and reportedly driven by a foreign national.
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said preliminary checks found that the vehicle did not belong to the department and was not one of its official assets.
“The department takes seriously the use of its logo on the vehicle as it could cause confusion and create a false impression among members of the public,” he said in a statement today.
The department said investigations were under way to identify the individual involved and determine the purpose behind the use of its logo on the vehicle.
It said appropriate action would be taken under the relevant laws if any offence was found to have been committed.
Zakaria said the department would not compromise on any misuse of its logo or identity that could mislead the public or undermine its image and integrity.
He also urged the public to exercise caution when sharing information related to the case while investigations are ongoing.
