KUALA LUMPUR, July7 — Voters are expected to know the outcome of all 56 seats in Saturday’s Johor state election by about 10pm, after the Election Commission of Malaysia upgraded its election results management system.

According to Buletin TV3, Election Commission chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the improvements should enable the commission to announce the full outcome by around 10pm.

“We hope and pray that with the system we have, which has now been upgraded, the full results can be known by around 10pm,” he reportedly said after observing the early voting process at Kem Mahkota in Kluang today.

“We will not release preliminary results. Instead, we will announce the full results,” he added.

Buletin TV3 said Ramlan also urged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers on Saturday to fulfil their democratic responsibility.

“This is an opportunity for all of us to contribute to the country through the democratic system that we uphold,” he said.

“I hope all voters, regardless of age, will come out in large numbers to cast their ballots on the 11th.”

Early voting for the Johor state election took place today ahead of polling day on Saturday.
