KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Principal Senior Assistant Commissioner Irawan Khlir has been selected to represent Malaysia at the FBI National Academy (Session 299), an international training programme organised by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Quantico, Virginia, United States.
In a statement today, MACC said Irawan, who serves in the Special Operations Division, is the third officer from the commission to be selected for the prestigious programme, reflecting international recognition of the professionalism, leadership and capabilities of the agency’s personnel.
The programme, scheduled to run from July 8 to Sept 17, brings together law enforcement officers from around the world to strengthen competencies in strategic leadership, operational management, advanced investigative techniques, high-technology intelligence and the handling of cross-border security threats.
“Irawan’s participation in this programme forms part of MACC’s continuous efforts to strengthen officers’ capabilities through exposure to international operational standards, global best practices and more effective modern enforcement approaches,” the commission said.
MACC noted that such exposure is increasingly important in addressing evolving and sophisticated criminal threats, including cross-border corruption, money laundering, digital financial crimes and organised crime syndicates.
According to the commission, the intensive programme also includes modules covering strategic management, operational leadership, modern forensic approaches, intelligence analysis and technology-driven investigative techniques.
In addition to formal learning, the programme also offers opportunities for participants to exchange experiences and share best practices with enforcement personnel from various countries, while building a strong international professional network.
“MACC believes every officer who undergoes this training can serve as an internal subject matter reference within the organisation, strengthen investigative capabilities and contribute significantly to enhancing standard operating procedures (SOPs), enforcement policies and operational effectiveness,” it said.
The commission added that the participation aligns with its ongoing efforts to ensure staff competency development remains in step with international enforcement standards.
MACC remains committed to strengthening human capital development to produce officers who are professional, highly ethical, competent and globally competitive in the nation’s fight against corruption. — Bernama
