KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — Police are tracking down the driver of a Proton X70 accused of reckless and dangerous driving before crashing into another vehicle along the Damansara–Puchong Expressway (LDP) here yesterday, after footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police received information on the viral video showing the SUV allegedly swerving in a zig-zag manner before colliding with a BMW, Harian Metro reported.

He said preliminary investigations found the incident occurred at about 5pm when the BMW, travelling from Puchong towards Subang Jaya, was moving slowly in the right lane due to heavy traffic congestion.

“The BMW was then hit from behind by the Proton X70,” he said in a statement last night.

Wan Azlan said both drivers were not injured in the incident.

However, the driver of the Proton X70 has yet to lodge a police report and efforts are underway to trace him.

The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

Members of the public with information are urged to assist investigations by contacting the investigating officer, Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Subang Jaya district police headquarters, Sergeant Mat Rizan at 011-32313666.
