KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — Drivers stopping for fuel in Banting got more than they bargained for this morning — a crocodile longer than three metres was discovered lurking in a roadside drain near a petrol station in Sungai Manggis.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said firefighters were alerted to the unusual reptile rescue at 9.07am.

A team from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene, where they discovered the hefty crocodile trapped in the drain near the road.

“The operations commander reported that there was a crocodile inside a drain near the roadside.

“Firefighters at the scene then carried out an operation to capture the reptile,” he said in a statement today.

The rescue operation involved eight firefighters and two fire engines. Fortunately, no one was injured during the encounter with the unexpected visitor.
