KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — Negeri Sembilan DAP has backed Negeri Sembilan PKR chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to remain menteri besar should Pakatan Harapan (PH) retain power in the next state election.
According to Sinar Harian, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said Aminuddin, who is also a PKR vice-president, had demonstrated strong leadership during his eight years in office and had not been linked to any allegations of wrongdoing.
Aminuddin has served as menteri besar since 2018.
“On August 1, we want Tok Min (Aminuddin) to continue leading Negeri Sembilan as menteri besar,” Loke said at the launch of PH Negeri Sembilan’s election machinery yesterday, as reported by the national daily.
“He has served as menteri besar for eight years. Have you ever heard that he took land? Have you ever heard that there are tens of millions in his bank account? Have you ever heard that he abused his power?”
Loke, who is also Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman, said his party would not hesitate to withdraw its support if Aminuddin were found to have engaged in corruption or abused his position.
“But Tok Min is a clean menteri besar, one who is pro-people and looks after the welfare of the people of Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
Loke added that all 11 DAP state assemblymen would support Aminuddin’s continuation as head of the state government.
On seat negotiations, he said DAP would only defend the 11 seats it currently holds and would not seek additional constituencies.
“Tonight, I want to declare that DAP is not greedy. We will only defend our 11 incumbent seats,” he said.
“I don’t even need to negotiate with Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. We are not asking for additional seats. The remaining seats are for Amanah and PKR to sort out among themselves. I do not want to interfere.”
