SEREMBAN, June 13 — Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has reminded PH leaders and election machinery not to betray the coalition if their names are not selected as candidates in the 16th State Election.

He said all parties should accept the party’s decision and continue working to ensure PH’s victory in the state.

“To all party members and election machinery, I appeal that regardless of who is chosen as a candidate by our leadership, do not betray them. Continue to support them. This is a struggle of life and death,” he said when speaking at the launch of the PH election machinery here yesterday.

The Menteri Besar said this was important, as he did not want to hear issues relating to “candidate or non-candidate” arising in any state constituency, but instead urged all parties to give their full support in the election.

Also present were Prime Minister and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as well as several top party leaders, including PKR information chief and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin urged voters residing outside the state to return home to fulfil their responsibility in their respective constituencies on polling day.

“Please come back and vote if you are living elsewhere. If possible, we want an 80 per cent voter turnout, not just 70 per cent. This is our opportunity and the right time to fulfil our responsibility by casting our votes,” he said.

The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, which has 36 seats, was officially dissolved on June 5 after receiving the consent of Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The Election Commission (EC) has set Aug 1 as polling day for the Negeri Sembilan state election. Nomination day will be on July 18, while early voting has been fixed for July 28.

The 2023 Negeri Sembilan state election saw PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) form the state government after winning 31 of the 36 seats.

PH secured 17 seats while BN won 14 seats, with Perikatan Nasional (PN) taking the remaining five seats.
