IPOH, June 10 — A man was killed after he was believed to have been stabbed during a fight at Kilometre 12, Jalan Trans Perak, here early this morning.
Perak Tengah district police chief Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said police received information about the incident at about 5.49am.
“Preliminary investigations found that the victim, a 29-year-old local man, sustained stab wounds during a fight with a 30-year-old man who has been identified.
“The victim was later taken to a clinic, where he was pronounced dead by a medical officer,” he said in a statement today.
He said further investigations revealed that the suspect fled the scene in a black Proton Wira bearing registration number WGX 3707.
“The suspect has been identified as Mohammad Farizzal Fazly Mohd Zulkifly, and his last known address is at Kampung Guntur Tengkek, 72200 Batu Kikir, Negeri Sembilan.
“Members of the public with information related to the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts are urged to assist investigations by contacting investigating officer ASP S Murugan at 012-6992784 or Inspector Muhammad Aminuddin Haiqal Mohamed Masnani at 019-6751267. Information can also be channelled to any nearby police station,” he said.
He said police are actively tracking down the suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Earlier, the incident was reported by a Facebook portal known as Bota TV, which claimed it was believed to have stemmed from a dispute over a woman from Teluk Batik.
However, the actual motive of the incident is still under investigation. — Bernama
