KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 — Police have recorded a statement from Tan Sri Azam Baki in connection with two separate investigations involving allegations of defamation, abuse of power, and criminal intimidation.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the statement was recorded under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“The first case concerns the publication of an article by Bloomberg.com that allegedly contained defamatory statements regarding the ownership of shares in Velocity Capital Partner Berhad.

“The second investigation involves allegations of abuse of power and criminal intimidation against a member of the public identified as Albert Tei,” he said in a statement.

Kumar said both investigation papers would be referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers in the near future, in accordance with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution, for legal advice and further instructions.

“We advise the public not to speculate on the cases, as such actions could potentially affect or interfere with the investigation process,” he said.

“The police remain committed to ensuring transparency and integrity in their investigations and will not compromise when taking action against any individual found to have violated the law,” he added.
