KANGAR, June 3 — Perlis has received an allocation of RM661.70 million under the Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), with expenditure performance reaching RM87.46 million, or 13.22 per cent, as of last April.
The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, said the spending involved the implementation of 354 projects.
“Under the Rolling Plan 5 (RP5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), Perlis received an allocation of RM632.56 million involving 188 projects. Of that amount, RM474.17 million was spent, equivalent to 74.96 per cent last year,” he said.
His Royal Highness said this in his royal address at the opening of the fourth term of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly sitting at Kompleks Seri Putra here today.
His address was delivered on his behalf by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Also in attendance were the Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said that the implementation of all development projects must be expedited so that their benefits can be enjoyed by the people within a reasonable timeframe.
“I also call on all departments and agencies that have been allocated funds to take immediate steps to implement projects and ensure that spending is carried out efficiently and in an orderly manner,” he said.
The Ruler said this is crucial to stimulate the state’s economic activities, enabling the benefits of the economic cycle to be felt more quickly by the people through increased employment opportunities, income and local business activities.
His Royal Highness added that efficiency in implementation not only boosts public confidence but also ensures that the state’s financial resources are utilised optimally without wastage or undue delays. — Bernama
