KUCHING, June 3 — Five people, including a two-year-old girl, were killed in a single-vehicle crash along Jalan Baki Lama-Ensengei in Serian this morning.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from the Serian fire station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.41am.
“Upon arrival, it was found a vehicle had crashed into a water pipe. The incident involved five victims understood to be from one family, comprising a man, three women aged between 16 and 47, and a two-year-old girl.
“Firefighters extricated the four adult victims from the vehicle, while the baby girl was found by members of the public near the crash site and is believed to have been thrown from the vehicle during the accident,” said a Bomba spokesperson.
All five victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel.
The bodies were later handed over to the police for further action.
The operation was brought under control at 9.20am and concluded at 9.51am.
