KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 — Rapid KL today activated alternative train services and free shuttle buses along the Ampang–Sri Petaling Line after a train derailed near Chan Sow Lin station this morning.

In a statement, the rail operator said alternative train services had been deployed between Cheras and Bandar Tasik Selatan stations, as well as between Ampang and Pandan Jaya stations.

It also said a free shuttle bus service was also operating between Pudu and Pandan Jaya stations.

Trains from Sentul Timur are currently turning back at Pudu station, while trains from Putra Heights are turning back at Bandar Tasik Selatan station as repair works continue.

Rapid KL said the derailment occurred after a faulty track switch caused the train to come off the tracks near Chan Sow Lin station.

“All 25 passengers on board the affected train were successfully evacuated safely according to operating procedures,” it said.

The operator added that technical teams were at the site carrying out repairs to restore normal services as quickly as possible.

Passengers heading towards the city centre have been advised to use the Putrajaya Line by interchanging at Sungai Besi station.

Rapid KL also urged commuters to follow instructions from station staff throughout the disruption period, adding that updates would be provided through its official social media channels and the MyRapid PULSE app.

The incident comes just 10 days after delays on the Kelana Jaya Line caused by a separate technical issue involving a train that became immobile on May 18.
