Body of unidentified man found floating in Sungai Kerayong near Jalan Cheras, believed to be drowned

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 — The body of a man believed to have drowned was found floating in Sungai Kerayong along Jalan Cheras here on Wednesday.

Malay daily Sinar Harian reported Cheras district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud as saying police received information on the discovery of the unidentified male body at about 5.13pm. 

He said police, along with the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and medical personnel, rushed to the scene to carry out further checks.

“Initial investigations found that the victim was a male estimated to be below 30 years old.

“The victim is believed to have died due to drowning about two to three days ago,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Mohd Rosdi said a physical examination by the Kuala Lumpur police forensic team found no signs of foul play on the body.

He said the body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Cheras for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
