KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — Police have confirmed that a bomb threat made against a prominent building in the capital last night was false.

Brickfields district police chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said police received a call regarding the incident at 9.09 pm from a security guard at the building.

“The building’s security guard informed us that he had received an email sent to the customer service centre stating that an individual had placed a bomb on the 23rd floor of the building’s north tower,” he said in a statement.

According to him, a Bomb Disposal Unit, K9 Unit and Forensic Unit were then deployed to the location to conduct a search and found that it was a false threat.

The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 507 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
