KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 — The Bersatu Disciplinary Board has expelled and suspended the membership of several elected representatives and party leaders, effective immediately.

Among those expelled are the State Assemblyman (Adun) for Suka Menanti, who is also the Alor Setar Division Chief, Dzowahir Ab Ghani; Sungai Tiang Adun Abdul Razak Khamis; and Hulu Langat Division Chief Muhammad Faiz Rahmad.

Meanwhile, five Members of Parliament (MPs) have had their membership rights suspended for two party election terms. They are: Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah); Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (Rompin); Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut); Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu); Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (Ketereh)

Also suspended are Ahmad Man (Adun for Kuala Sepetang) and Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Mohd Zain (Adun for Chenderoh).

These actions were taken after they were found to have violated Clause 9.1.4 of the Party Constitution and the Members’ Code of Ethics and Conduct.

The party’s Disciplinary Board also issued warning notices to: Roslan Hashim (MP for Kulim Bandar Baharu); Kalam Salan (MP for Sabak Bernam); Zakri Hassan (MP for Kangar).

When contacted by Bernama, Nordin Ahmad Ismail confirmed receiving the suspension letter.

“Yes, it is true; it’s confirmed (I received the suspension letter). The reason (for the suspension) was attending a programme hosted by someone who has already been expelled,” he said, referring to the “Reset” programme organised by former Bersatu Deputy President, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

Nordin added that the involved leaders might meet in the near future to coordinate their next steps before deciding whether to file an appeal within the 14-day period allowed by the party.

Abdul Khalib, whose service as Pahang Bersatu Chief was previously terminated, stated that he received the suspension notice via WhatsApp around 6.00pm yesterday.

Khlir Mohd Nor also confirmed receiving his notice and expressed acceptance of the party’s decision. — Bernama
