KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — The government will continue its subsidised public transport pass schemes, including the widely used My50 programme, as part of efforts to ease the impact of rising fuel costs on urban commuters.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the initiative forms part of the broader rail usage campaign to address rising fuel costs.
“The My50 pass allows unlimited travel on rail and bus services in the Klang Valley for RM50 a month — about 67 per cent lower than its actual value,” Loke told a press conference here today.
Currently, around 40 per cent of users have adopted the pass, underlining its role as a key cost-saving tool for daily commuters.
In addition, Loke said Prasarana Malaysia Berhad will continue to offer other travel options to improve flexibility, including Rapid KL’s one-day and three-day passes for occasional users.
A separate Rapid Keluarga pass is also introduced to allow unlimited group travel for up to four people on weekends and public holidays, offering a more affordable option for family travel.
Loke said maintaining these schemes ensures continued access to affordable public transport, while helping Malaysians better manage their monthly expenses amid rising fuel prices.
