PUTRAJAYA, April 3 — Malaysia strongly condemns a new law passed by the Zionist Israeli regime imposing a mandatory death sentence on Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

In a statement on Friday, the Foreign Ministry stressed that the law is clearly discriminatory against Palestinians and completely eliminates judicial discretion.

“Such legislation, which targets individuals based on ethnicity and national identity, constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and relevant international human rights instruments,” the statement said.

The ministry noted that the new law represents yet another discriminatory measure by the Zionist Israeli regime to further entrench its apartheid system under its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.

Malaysia also stands firm with the international community in voicing concern over the condition of Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention centres, particularly in light of credible reports of ongoing abuse, torture, inhuman and degrading treatment, starvation, and the denial of fundamental rights.

Malaysia further calls on the international community to take decisive and collective action to ensure accountability and respect for international law, while demanding an immediate end to all forms of discrimination and oppression against the Palestinian people. — Bernama
