KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for multiple states across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak, effective until 4pm today
The alert forecasts thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds for the affected areas.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the warning covers the entire state of Perlis, parts of Kedah and Penang, most districts in Perak, and the Cameron Highlands in Pahang.
Widespread storms are also expected across the majority of Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur, several areas in Negeri Sembilan, and Alor Gajah in Melaka.
In East Malaysia, the alert is in effect for Limbang in Sarawak, and several divisions in Sabah, including the Interior, West Coast, Tawau, and Sandakan.
According to METMalaysia, a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity expected to exceed 20 mm per hour and last for more than one hour.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
