KUCHING, Jan 14 — Police are investigating the deaths of a husband and wife in a house at Taman Mutiara, Jalan Brayun, Sri Aman as murder.
Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report from a member of the public at 6.55am regarding the discovery of the couple, who were found with severe injuries in an unconscious state.
“A police team from IPD Sri Aman, together with medical officers from Sri Aman Hospital, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Initial examinations confirmed that both victims, a 45-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife, had died at the location,” Mohamad Zainal said in a statement.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation, with efforts ongoing to gather evidence and record witness statements,” he said.
Members of the public with information related to the case can contact investigating officer ASP Kalang Buda on 019-3317785, the IPD Sri Aman District Control Centre, or the nearest police station.
“Public cooperation is crucial to assist investigations and ensure the continued safety of the community,” added Mohamad Zainal.
It is understood that the man was Andy Roy Junran, a headmaster under the Lubok Antu District Education Office.
The Education Department had expressed its condolences to Andy’s family in a Facebook post.
He is understood to have just reported for duty as headmaster at SK Sbangki, Lubok Antu on January 5, while his wife was a nurse at Sri Aman Hospital. — The Borneo Post
