BINTULU, Oct 9 — Bintulu Hospital has issued a public advisory to warn residents against swimming, fishing, or engaging in any recreational activities at the lake located near the hospital’s boundary.

In a notice, the hospital reminded the public that despite the hot weather and the calm appearance of the water, the area is not a designated or safe recreational site.

“There are multiple hidden dangers such as deep water, sharp branches, wild or venomous animals, and unstable soil that could collapse at any time,” it stated.

The notice added that the lake also contains discharge effluent and wastewater flowing directly from nearby drains and ditches, making it unsafe for human contact.

“Value your life and the lives of your loved ones. Do not let temporary enjoyment lead to lifelong regret,” the hospital cautioned. — The Borneo Post
