Motorcyclist killed, seven injured in multi-vehicle crash on Samarahan-Stutong bypass

KUCHING, Oct 7 — A multivehicle crash on the new Jalan Samarahan-Stutong Baru bypass here this morning left a motorcyclist dead and seven other motorists with injuries.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said personnel from Kota Samarahan fire station were dispatched to the scene after a call was received at 9.24am.

“The crash, between two motorcycles and two SUVs (sports utility vehicles), involved eight individuals.

“One of the motorcyclists died, while seven others sustained injuries. Rescuers at the scene only helped to extricate the elderly driver of one SUV,” Bomba said in a statement.

All injured victims were brought to hospital for further treatment.

Bomba personnel also conducted clean-up work at the site before ending their operation. — The Borneo Post
