KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — Police have arrested two men suspected of obstructing police officers from providing security at a rally in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) in front of the US embassy here, today.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the peaceful rally at 12 noon today with about 50 participants began to become tense when participants blocked traffic on Jalan Tun Razak in front of the embassy.

“The chaos that ensued caused a police officer to suffer an injury to his mouth after being elbowed by a rally participant while providing security at the scene,” he said in a statement here.

He said an investigation paper had been opened under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing the police in carrying out their duties.

Fadil said the police were also aware that the arrest of the two men, aged 23 and 32, had gone viral through a 54-second video uploaded on Facebook. — Bernama
