IPOH, Oct 1 — The body of an elderly woman was found together with a motorcycle in a ditch by the roadside in Kampung Tanjung Lengkong, Rantau Panjang in Selama this morning.

Selama district police chief Supt Sarudin Samah said his department received a complaint from an excavator operator working in that area at about 11.45am.

“The complainant was carrying out cleaning work on the road shoulder in the area when he saw a motorcycle in the ditch. Upon inspection, a decomposed body was also found near the motorcycle.

“A check of registration records by the police revealed that the same motorcycle was used by an elderly woman who was reported missing on September 8. However, the police are still awaiting results from the forensics team to confirm the identity of the body,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He also said that a post-mortem on the body will be done at Selama Hospital’s forensic unit today, and that the case is being investigated as a sudden death. — Bernama
