KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalil Ismail today confirmed that a prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is being investigated for drug use.
The prosecutor’s urine tested positive for narcotics, according to Mohd Khalil, who said police raided the individual’s home after receiving a tip-off from an informant.
“Yes we are investigating based on the police report that was made, and it’s for possession and his urine testing positive,” the police chief told a press conference at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters here.
When asked who lodged the report Mohd Khalid replied, “it’s a related party” without elaborating.
The anti-graft agency said this morning one of its deputy public prosecutors was arrested in a raid by police on suspicion of drug possession.
The officer had just reported for duty at the commission last week. He was detained at his home yesterday.
“The MACC has handed the matter entirely to the authorities to carry out further investigation and gives assurance that it will provide full cooperation,” the commission said.
