GEORGE TOWN, 15 Sept —  Heavy rain for nearly two hours from 2.40 am today caused flash floods and felled trees in several areas in Balik Pulau, Jelutong and Gelugor here.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, John Sagun Francis, said the affected areas were Jalan Jelutong near the Jelutong Police Station, Jalan Bukit Lama, Jalan Genting and Jalan Sungai Nipah in Balik Pulau, as well as Jalan Kampung Kastam in Gelugor.

“Several trees fell across roads, blocking traffic, and some struck electricity poles. However, no casualties were reported,” he said in a statement. — Bernama
