SHAH ALAM, June 30 — Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said today the authorities found no elements of negligence or sabotage in the Putra Heights blaze.
"Our task was to investigate if there were elements of negligence and sabotage... we can say none were found,” Hussein said at a press conference here.
The Putra Heights gas pipe explosion was caused by soil subsidence that happened over the years since it was laid in 2000 that made the pipe shift by 15.9cm, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said today.
The finding was part of the report prepared by the investigation team comprising several agencies and led by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.
Another agency involved in the investigation, the Department of Mineral and Geoscience, said it found water had accumulated in the soil underneath the pipe, which weakened the soil structure.
The focus of the police probe was to identify if there were elements of sabotage and negligence.
