KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — A car driver involved in a road rage incident on Jalan Syed Putra here was sentenced to two days in jail and fined RM6,000 by the Magistrates’ Court today.
Magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil meted out the sentence on Lim Ching Hong, 26, after he pleaded guilty to the charge and ordered him to serve his prison sentence starting today.
The court also ordered that the man be jailed for three months if he fails to pay the fine and that the details of the offence be endorsed on his driver’s licence in addition to his licence being suspended for five years.
Lim was charged with driving in a reckless manner and endangering other road users on Jalan Syed Putra, here at 9.19am on August 20. The charge was framed under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Yesterday, a 24-second clip went viral on social media showing a car driven by the accused abruptly changing lanes and then slamming on its brakes. As a result, a motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle, hit the back of the car and fell, resulting in injuries to his chin, knee and right toes. — Bernama
