KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — The Royal Malaysia Police would help the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission apply for Interpol’s assistance in locating Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law for an investigation here, said Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The inspector-general said his agency would have no issue in offering its resources to help fellow law enforcers locate Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan and a lawyer by the name of Mansoor Saat.

Both men are wanted for a MACC investigation into the embezzlement of a ministry’s funds.

"On cooperating with the MACC, we will offer any assistance. This is not an issue between agencies,” he was quoted as saying in a Sinar Harian report.

Yesterday, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said his commission has enlisted the help of the Immigration Department to suspend the passport of the Perikatan Nasional chairman’s son-in-law and the lawyer, in order to secure the return to Malaysia.

Azam also said the MACC would ask the PDRM and Interpol to assist in locating the two.

Both men were reported to have left Malaysia three months ago, one on May 17 and the other on May 21.

After Azam suggested that the two may have fled Malaysia to escape the investigation, a lawyer representing Muhammad Adlan denied that the latter had absconded.

The lawyer said Muhammad Adlan would return to Malaysia if he were given a guarantee against political persecution.
