Johor police: Video of Singaporean driver ignoring orders to stop from last year
Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the video clip was of an incident at the Johor Causeway on September 23 last year.

JOHOR BARU, Aug 3 — A video clip showing the driver of Singapore-registered car refusing to stop when ordered by Malaysian traffic police was old and being recirculated, said a senior official.

Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the video clip was of an incident at the Johor Causeway on September 23 last year.

"The video clip showed a Malaysian traffic policeman stopping a silver Honda Civic car with Singapore registration plates.

"However, the car refused to stop after the policeman allegedly caught the driver cutting a queue line meant for lorries and heavy vehicles towards Singapore from the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) here,” he said in a statement tonight.

Raub was commenting on the video circulating online over the past several days.

The Johor Causeway is considered one of the busiest border crossings in the region, with over 300,000 Malaysians commuting daily to their workplaces from Johor to Singapore and back again.

On the status of the incident, Raub said that the police have flagged the Honda Civic for further action and were still tracking its owner.
