KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Kelantan Perikatan Nasional (PN) today confirmed that seat negotiations between PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia have been completed with the former set to contest 39 out of the 45 seats up for grabs in the state.
Its liaison secretary, Wan Roslan Wan Hamat, said all PN candidates in Kelantan will use the PAS logo for the state polls.
"I am pleased to announce that the Kelantan state seat negotiations between PAS and Bersatu have been completed. PAS will contest 39 seats, and Bersatu the remaining six seats,” he announced during a special press conference in Kota Baru.
He said the six seats that Bersatu will contest are Kok Lanas, Gual Ipoh, Nenggiri, Paloh, Gua Musang and Air Lanas.
Wan Roslan also said Kelantan PAS has already prepared its list of state election candidates.
"We will vet the candidates’ list and the final selection will be made based on whether the candidates are able to fulfil the wishes of voters’ in a particular constituency.
"We will announce the official list on July 27, followed by our manifesto on July 31,” he said.
The theme of the state coalition’s manifesto for the polls is "Kelantan Maju, Rakyat Sejahtera”, or "Progress in Kelantan, Wellbeing for the People”.
On July 5, the Election Commission announced that polling for Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu state elections will be on August 12.
EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh also announced during the same press conference that nomination day will be on July 29 and early voting is set for August 8.
