Putrajaya mulls rewarding enforcement agencies based on revenue performance

PUTRAJAYA, July 13 — The government is considering remunerating enforcement agencies with strong revenue collection performance, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

Addressing enforcement agencies at the "Cakna Madani” awareness programme, he said the reward may be given in the form of facilities or equipment that is needed to boost their competitiveness.

"God willing, the government will continue to provide special provisions next year after taking into account the additional revenue collected by enforcement agencies,” he said.

He also told more than 2,400 enforcement agencies officers that an additional RM100 million will be distributed to all agencies to improve their facilities.

The Anwar also said that the government will review ways to improve career paths civil servants under enforcement agencies.

The allocation will include the uniform allowance for enforcement agencies, namely the police, armed forces, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Prisons Department, Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) as well as Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

"This involves a financial implication of RM5,502,780 per year,” he said.
