KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today said fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho could be returned to Malaysia "anytime” following the arrest of his associate Jasmine Loo Ai Swan.

He said the police have never ceased their investigations into the fugitive broker also known as Jho Low, who is believed to be either in Macau or Shanghai.

"Actually if Loo can be brought back then anytime [Low can be brought back as well].

"Only time will tell,” he told a press conference in Bukit Aman, referring to the repatriation of Low.

He said that he did not want to mention Low’s whereabouts as it could lead to him running again.

Other suspects were on the police’s radar too, he added.

When asked by a reporter to confirm reports of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) stating that Low was in Macau, he said: "I don’t want to confirm. I am not brave to confirm."

In May, Al Jazeera reported MACC as saying that it "believes the individuals wanted for the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case, especially Jho Low, are hiding in Macau”.

Al Jazeera reported that MACC's remark came weeks after the arrest of Kee Kok Thiam — one of the suspects in the 1MDB scandal — after he was deported from Macau for allegedly overstaying his visa.

Kee had reportedly confirmed to MACC that he met Low and fellow 1MDB fugitives and suspects Eric Tan Kim Loong, Casey Tang Keng Chee, Geh Choh Heng and Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil in Macau.

This claim was disputed by "Billion Dollar Whale" author Bradley Hope, who claimed that Low is under house arrest in Shanghai instead.

In response, Macau’s Office of the Secretary for Security said it was "shocked” the MACC went public with its claims on Low without contacting counterparts there.
