"As previously announced, the Penang2030 Vision has four main themes supported by 16 strategic Initiatives and in terms of achievements, a total of 210 projects and programmes have been and are being carried out.

"They include efforts to accelerate digital transformation, build resilience, use data efficiently, focus more on meeting people’s needs, empower youth, women and children communities, build global economic linkages for the electrical and electronics (E&E) industry, ensure public safety and health, attract talent, resource efficiency and foster gender inclusion,” he said in a statement today.

In tracing the launch of the ‘Penang 2030 Vision: A People-centric Smart and Green State That Inspires the Nation’ on Aug 29, 2018, he said it was conceived as a development master plan with four main themes involving the people of Penang.

Chow, who is also the Member of Parliament for Batu Kawan, said that Theme A increases liveability (affordable homes, welfare aid), Theme B upgrades the economy (to increase household income), Theme C empowers the people (more community participation) and Theme D invests in the physical environment (infrastructure, spatial planning).

He said the state government stays committed to continuing its strategy to realise the Penang 2030 Vision in the remaining seven years.

"I am very confident that the state leadership will be able to do it, as was proven in the previous challenge of combating the Covid-19 pandemic with the support of all parties,” he said.

He said that within five years of building an administration with integrity, the welfare of the people, the provision of infrastructure, and the formation of an ecosystem chain, Penang is now driving digitalisation technology and smart city initiatives based on the development of human resources towards making the island a glorious and distinguished state. — Bernama
