KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — The only reason the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) is not yet a component party of the ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) is because the coalition’s presidential council has yet to discuss its application, according to PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abd Halim.
He said the delay is because the presidential council had more pressing matters to discuss so far and not because there were internal disagreements to Muda’s inclusion as alleged, news portal Free Malaysia Today reported last night.
"This is not to say that Muda’s entry is not an important issue but the motion is yet to be raised at the presidential council,” he was quoted as telling reporters after launching the Penang PKR Youth headquarters in Bukit Mertajam yesterday.
"No one in it opposes Muda’s application.
"Most of the motions at previous council meetings were on pressing matters,” Adam Adli, who is also a member of the PH presidential council, was quoted as saying.
Muda secretary-general Amir Abdul Hadi expressed disappointment on March 20 that his party had been excluded from the Anwar administration secretariat's meeting for the second time.
The fledgling party headed by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was left out of the first meeting on February 7.
Muda was among the earliest parties to back PH and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for prime minister after the contentious 15th general election last November.
