KUANTAN, March 28 — Police seized 32 compressed blocks of suspected ganja, weighing 31 kilogrammes and worth RM78,207.50, as well as arrested a restaurant assistant last week in what is said to be the biggest haul in Pahang so far this year.

State police chief Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the drugs were discovered in a shed in Kampung Chendering here, following the arrest of the suspect and seizure of one compressed block of the drugs on March 32 at 5.30 pm in Jaya Gading. The suspect is believed to have been waiting for a customer.

"The shed was located near the suspect’s family house and an inspection there found the compressed blocks of ganja stored in sacks and plastic containers.

"The suspect is believed to have started his drug-dealing activities two years ago and operated on his own with his supplies coming from Kelantan,” Ramli said at a press conference at the Pahang contingent police headquarters (IPK) here today.

Ramli said the total amount of drugs seized was able to supply 65,566 drug addicts per day with an estimated consumption of 0.5 grammes

He said the preliminary screening test found the suspect positive for drugs and he had eight previous criminal records related to drug offences.

According to Ramli, the remand order on the suspect ends today but police will seek an extension of the remand so that the suspect can help in the investigation. — Bernama
