ISKANDAR PUTERI, March 27 — The Johor government today approved an additional RM60,000 in allocation to all 56 state assemblymen in conjunction with Ramadan month and the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the state government was hopeful that the assemblymen will use the allocation for the benefit of the people and the state as a whole.
He assured all elected state representatives that the allocation, worth RM3.36 million, will be channelled by this week.
"Allow me to share some good news with the honourable members in conjunction with the Ramadan month and the coming Aidilfitri celebration.
"The state government has agreed to allocate RM20,000 for the Ramadan programme, while another RM20,000 will be for the Aidilfitri programme.
"In addition, the state government will also increase an additional RM20,000 in an effort to make the Johor Bersih agenda a success in the assemblymen’s respective areas,” said Onn Hafiz.
He announced this during his winding-up speech at the Johor state legislative assembly on Kota Iskandar here today.
The additional allocation, a total of RM60,000, is part of three programmes that will see RM20,000 each per assemblyman, irrespective of their political association.
