KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — In the spirit of Ramadan, Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh has today contributed a total of RM129,000 to suraus and mosques within her constituency.

Yeoh said the contributions were sourced from federal government allocations given to parliamentarians and it is customary for her to use said allocations for Ramadan events organised by Muslim houses of worship.

"My hope is that with the federal government allocations provided to members of Parliament, more programmes for the rakyat will be organised.

"However, I will not be organising any programmes but merely wish to ‘top up’ existing programmes organised by Muslim houses of worship so there will not be wastage,” she said during a handover ceremony at Taman Tun Dr Ismail here.

On the breakdown of contributions, Yeoh said nine mosques will receive RM5,000 each while 42 suraus will receive RM2,000 each.

Apart from the monetary contributions, Yeoh also distributed boxes of dates to all 51 recipients.
