Barisan sec-gen Zambry confirms filing petition against seats allegedly won in GE15 through vote-buying

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 — Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir today admitted that the coalition will file a petition against seats allegedly involved in vote-buying.

When asked about the details of said seats, he refused to elaborate but said BN will unveil the list on a later date.

"We will announce later [in detail]. There are indeed some areas where we will file election petitions. Of course there are basics that need to be met. There are all kinds of parties.

"Our committee will announce it later. We have identified several places, the exact amount will be announced later," he told reporters after visiting the media room during Umno's general assembly here.

Earlier, a representative of Barisan's candidate for the Gua Musang seat, Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, filed a petition atthe Kota Baru High Court to challenge the validity of GE15's results in the Parliament.

A petition was filed on January 3 by Mohd Azmi Mahmood at the Kota Baru High Court, following claims of vote-buying.

Earlier, news portal Free Malaysia Today reported that a total of seven petitions have been filed regarding GE15 results on November 19, including the Gua Musang parliamentary seat, according to sources.

The Election Commission and the election management officer in the area involved have been named as respondents in all seven petitions.
