The Bagan Datuk MP said for the time being the party was not keen on inviting any of the opposing party's leaders for its current annual assembly.

"For this upcoming assembly, we're not keen on inviting the other political parties in the government and Perikatan Nasional (PN) to attend the officiating of the event and to listen to our policy speeches.

"However we will send invites for the early stages (before the party elections) to the secretaries-general of the coalition parties in this unity government,” he said during a press conference at Putrajaya today.

Umno will hold its general assembly from January 11 to 14, 2023.

For tonight's meeting, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan had said that the monthly meeting of the party’s supreme council will also discuss whether to provide a live feed of the delegates’ speeches during the general assembly.

The general assembly will begin in earnest on January 13, with president Ahmad Zahid giving his policy speech, which will be the only motion to be debated, as announced by Ahmad Maslan.

Umno has said that it will hold its delayed party election within six months of the last general election but not during this particular general assembly.
