KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 — Parliament Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul reportedly said that Budget 2023 will be tabled in the first session of the 15th Parliament in February.

He told Berita Harian that the new budget plan will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim himself, who is also the minister of finance.

"Yes, Budget 2023 will be presented on February 24 because previously only a mini-budget was presented for government service expenses and civil servants' salary payments.

"Overall, the Budget presentation and debate process including committee matters and policy will take 21 days," Johari was quoted saying.

Malay Mail has sought clarification with the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister’s Office over the matter.

He added that he had allocated a total of three weeks for Budget 2023 to be motioned and debated before it could be passed.

He said that the Parliamentary session will begin on February 13 and will last for 29 days.

He also said that the next Parliamentary meeting will be opened by a speech from the King himself.
