KUCHING, Dec 13 — Residents in Borneo Highlands and Bengoh Dam near here have proposed cable car as a means of transportation in their areas to Mambong.

State Deputy Transport Minister, Datuk Jerip Susil said his ministry has recently received a proposal of using cable car to connect the villages in the highlands to Mambong here as they could not be reached by road.

"(Cable car) is more cost effective as it covers a bigger area and we do not have to build roads to villages near the dam,” he said today.

He was speaking to reporters after opening the Mini Lab N19 Mambong For Greater Kuching Development Coordinated Agency (GKDCA) here today.

According to him, even though it is at the proposal stage, efforts will be made to find interested investors to implement the service which could be a game changer to stimulate more tourism activities at the highlands. — Bernama
