KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — The Election Commission would be glad if the six states would hold their elections simultaneously, its chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said.

He explained that this is because it will be easier to coordinate even though it would not significantly reduce the total cost for all six, which is estimated to come up to RM450 million, The New Straits Times reported today.

"If it is possible, we truly welcome it. It will make things easier for our manpower, making it easier for us to coordinate,” he was quoted telling reporters in Kedah yesterday.

The six states yet to hold elections are Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu which are all controlled by PAS, and Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang — which are all under Pakatan Harapan.
