Warisan unveils remaining 13 Sabah parliamentary candidates, along with Kampar and Kapar hopefuls

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 3 — Parti Warisan today unveiled its remaining 13 Sabah parliamentary candidates, and another two candidates in the peninsula for the Kampar and Kapar seats in Perak and Selangor, respectively.

More than half of the candidates for the 25 Sabah seats are new faces, while the old hands included familiar faces such as ex-assemblyman Datuk Yusof Apdal, the younger brother of Warisan president Datuk Shafie Apdal.

Yusof last contested in the 2018 general election, and lost to Warisan’s Dumi Masdal.

All seven Warisan incumbents were retained and will defend their seats, including Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli who is on trial for abuse of power.

Shafie’s nephew, Jamil Hamzah, a 43-year-old Syariah lawyer, will contest for Warisan in the Bugaya by-election.

He also announced that former beauty queen turned lawyer Joanna Sue Henley Rampas will be contesting the Tuaran seat.

Aside from Shafie and deputy president Datuk Darell Leiking, two other elected state representatives — Sekong assemblyman Alias Sani and Bongawan assemblyman Datuk Dr Daud Yusof — will be going for the parliamentary seat Batu Sapi and Kimanis, respectively.

In all, Warisan’s line-up of for the 26 federal seats featured five women – Rampas, Kota Belud incumbent Munirah Isnaraissah Majilis, Pensiangan candidate Siti Noorhasmawaty Osman, Kota Kinabalu candidate Amanda Yeo and Beluran candidate Roweina Rasid.

Other notable new faces are diplomat Datuk Jilid Kuminding in the Kota Marudu seat, 28-year-old lawyer KC Chen in the Tawau chief, and Wira chief Ismail Ayob in the Kinabatangan seat.

Leong Check Lung is the candidate for Kampar, while Malim Nawar is the candidate for the state seat of Malim Nawar.

Rahim Awang will contest the Kapar federal seat.
