KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Electoral watchdog Bersih has called for 100 election observers registered under the Election Commission (EC) to monitor the 15th general election (GE15).
They would be monitoring the election process and on the watch-out for possible election offences by candidates, political parties, election officials, and authorities involved in the elections this month.
A newly launched platform to report suspicious electoral activities will also be available. Volunteers and the public are encouraged to report the following 10 election offences:
- Bribery and vote buying
- Treating and gifts
- Undue influence by government through handouts or inducements
- Abuse of government machinery
- Excessive spending
- Intimidation and violent behaviour
- Biasness by public servants and institutions
- Advance and postal vote
- Polling day issue
- Electoral roll issue
People who witness any of the election offences can make a report at: https://pemantau.org/aduanpru15/, where they will be asked to provide your name and phone number, as well as location, date, and other relevant details about the alleged offence.
On top of that, the public with any questions regarding the election process or conduct of the election can WhatsApp or call Bersih’s hotline at +60176842726 or email pru15@bersih.org.
"This website is constantly updated with frequently asked questions (FAQ) and the public can check for misinformation and get accurate information about the election process.
"This is our effort to combat misinformation and fake news,” Bersih said in a statement.
The EC has fixed polling day on November 19 and nominations on November 5.
