KUCHING, Oct 18 — Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg today admitted receiving overtures from national coalition parties ahead of the 15th general election (GE15).

"When you are beautiful, of course, there are many suitors who want to marry you,” he said when asked during a press conference if he had been approached by national coalitions to link up for the election.

He likened GPS to a beautiful lady who has many suitors who to want to marry her, but they must seek the approval of her father.

He, however, did not name the national coalitions that have approached him.

"Yes, there are. But we will see. Now is only the dating time... no engagement yet,” Abang Johari, who is also Sarawak premier, said after chairing the GPS supreme council meeting today.

"Let’s see if GPS will marry the right suitor.”

GPS is currently part of the federal government with Umno, MCA, MIC, PAS and Bersatu.

Before chairing the GPS supreme council meeting, Abang Johari chaired PBB supreme council meeting.

He said the two meetings were part of early preparations for GE15 following the dissolution of Parliament on October 10, 2022.
