Malaysia records 4,262 new Covid-19 infections today

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 — Malaysia today reported 4,262 new Covid-19 infections.

In an update on Twitter today, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the cumulative Covid-19 cases in the country to 2,707,402.

"A total of 4,985 recovered while 383 needed treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).

"From this number, 284 are Covid-19 positive, 99 are suspect cases and under surveillance,” he said in a statement later today.

Cases which needed breathing aid are 198 with 135 confirmed Covid-19 positive, 63 suspect cases and under surveillance.

As for cluster update, six new clusters have been identified today, while 5,814 clusters have ended their infection period.

"From the existing clusters, 248 are active,” he said.

From the new infections today, 1.8 per cent are from Category 3, 4 and 5 while 98.2 per cent are from Category 1 and 2.
