KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced today 18,815 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, falling slightly from 19,495 yesterday.

The total cumulative cases now stand at 2,049,750 today.

Sarawak continued to record the highest number of cases at 3,660 new infections, followed by Selangor (2,718) and Johor (2,206).

The Federal Territory of Labuan recorded 11 new infections after having zero cases yesterday.

Out of the new cases, seven were imported.

A total of 1,222 cases were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), with 710 patients out of those requiring intubation.

From the total new cases, only 1.2 per cent or 222 cases were placed under Categories 3, 4 and 5.

In comparison, 16,939 patients have recovered in the same period, making the recovery rate in the country 87.8 per cent.

Sarawak has the highest Rt or infectivity rate of 1.14, followed by Terengganu (1.08), Perlis (1.06) and Pahang (1.02)

The national infectivity rate is currently 0.97.
