KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — A total of 10 people have been charged with falsifying their Covid-19 vaccination certificates to date, Deputy Home Minister I Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said said today.

He said four are from Perak, two from Sabah, another two from Melaka, and one each from Kelantan and Sarawak.

"For your information YB, of the 10 people charged, one was found to have committed the offence,” he told PAS’ Setiu MP Shaharizukirnain Abd Kadir who had posed an additional question during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat.

Ismail added that the one person convicted of the offence was from Sarawak and has been sentenced to jail.

Shaharizukirnain had also asked if the government via the Home Ministry and the Ministry of Health (MoH) would adopt the use of a cryptographic digital signature to verify the authenticity of digital vaccination certificates.

Ismail Mohamed said that the initiative would be discussed between the MoH and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti).

Khoo Poay Tiong (DAP-Kota Melaka) then posed an additional question, citing news reports that some doctors allegedly updated the MySejahtera app after being bribed by those who are unvaccinated and if any action has been taken against those involved.

However, Ismail Mohamed said that he would provide a written reply on the issue as he did not have any relevant data yet.
